'Roid Week, Day Two

I think I am starting to get crossed eyed from looking at the 'Roid Week pool so much! So much good stuff, it blows my mind.

 Here are my day two submissions:

When I first used the Blue film, I wasn't too crazy about it so I let my second pack sit around for years. Recently Artful Magpie posted a great Blue shot on Flickr, and it inspired me to use my remaining pack. And boy am I glad that I did! I totally fell for the film and it suited our hiking adventure well. We were up on the Windsor Trail when I took this shot of Will. It's my favorite from the day.

This is a shot of a cosmo in our garden. A typical Juli shot, I suppose. Flowers! I actually shot this one without shielding the film as it ejected so I was quite surprised that it turned out with such vibrant color.

This week's Words To Shoot By is Make. I really love all the submissions. Well, I always do, but sometimes they seem particularly fabulous.

I also love that Will is building a drum set! He's so great at making things, I am glad that he finally has time to make something for himself. Something that he loves. And the shells he bought are super awesome!

And now here we are in August, I can't believe how the time flies. Our California vacation is getting closer and we are so excited. We both really need to get away and relax.

We had a lovely weekend with some friends visiting from North Carolina. Dinner at Maria's on Saturday, of course, and yesterday we cooked out in the backyard. The weather was just perfect. (And that's when we picked a winner. I had Lauren draw the name out of a felted bowl, natch.)

This week is pretty packed for me starting with an eye doctor appointment this afternoon. I haven't been to the eye doctor since we lived in New York so it's been about five years. Bad. I desperately need new contacts and some new glasses probably wouldn't hurt either. Tomorrow I have to do some work at the gallery and then our two nephews arrive on Thursday to stay with us for a couple of days.

I didn't realize the flash was on when I took the first Spectra shot in the mirror. So we did it again.

This is the one that came out cute except you can see how dirty the mirror is. Ooops.

Six years married. We like to get dressed up (well, dressed up for us) and go out to a nice dinner. But before we leave, I always have to have a little photo shoot. I forgot to turn the flash off for this one which made us laugh, and I don't know, I just like the photo. (We did it again without the flash.)

My new love, PX 600...

First shot I took, this film blew my mind. The tones are incredible. The scanner does not do it justice, trust me. You need to see it in person.



Granted, the film is just as sensitive as the PX 100. If it gets too much light after exiting the camera, things can happen. I was taking this in direct sunlight underneath our skylight and probably didn't get the dark slide over the whole piece of film in time, hence the much lighter bottom portion. But no matter, it's still a photo that I love.



And this one? Perhaps one of my favorite shots ever. (Although I am sure I've said that before!) I scanned it immediately and while the tones didn't change much in the later scan, I noticed that the first scan was a lot smoother. I like the grainy look of this later scan though.



I am seriously in love with this film. I wish I had a million dollars, or even an extra couple of hundred that I could spend stocking up on it. Looking forward to testing it out some more.

Also, does anyone else think it is weird that this guy on Flickr tends to favorite shots of Will a lot? Do I need to block him?

Eight years since the day we met.

And it's still so much fun! It's hard to pick a few favorites out of the 470 pictures I have in my Flickr set, but here's a random selection. Really every photo that I have of Will makes me smile. He truly is the best!

The birthday boy photo from last week. Yes, I am behind on everything. That's what happens when insomnia strikes. My productivity levels drop pretty drastically. I have decided to blame the lack of sleep and all the other recent frustrations on Mercury being in retrograde.
